If you are talking about the impossibility of the rotation of the earth with someone, as soon as you state the facts, your opponent might come back with, “What about the earth going around the Sun at 67,000mph?” Then you may have to go through it all again and explain that. Then the other person – without refruting you – will throw out another question about our solar system going around the Milky Way.
Well, here is a way to stop that – or it should to any thinking person. Tell a story about a judge who called a witness to the stand. This person says to the judge, “The witness could not make it; I can give you six reasons why.”
The judge responds, “Let's hear the six reasons.”
The witness says, “The first reason why the witness could not come is that he's dead.” The judge replied, “That's enough; you can keep the other five reasons!”
The point is, that in some situations – like the one above – all you should have to do is give one answer and it will take care of the other questions. So, when quiried, respond with the above story; he or she should get the point.

With the earth being flat question, one example of doing an experiment with the telescope and ship at sea should be enough. When the continue asking questions about the roundness of the earth, ask him to take the opposite position and try to think of a possible answer. What this does, or hopefully does, it force him to “think outside of the box;” which is so little done today.

Experiments With Just Words
There are many “experiments” you can do with just having a conversation with someone. In short, you don't have to spend all kinds of money, be a scientist of sorts, and have special equipment. For example, you can just discuss the speed of the earth as it goes through space – or so we ARE TOLD. With speeds of 1,000mph rotation, 67,000mph travelling around the Sun, and with the whole solar system going around the Milk Way at 500,000mph, you can explain to them how such speeds will not only destroy everything on earth but the earth itself. They should get it. If they don't, you'll have to talk to someone who has an IQ higher than a cucumber, or you'll have to talk to someone who is not a government agent – plain and simple.
Now, you can also do simple experiments (actually do them) and that it would cost you no money. To give you an example would be get a jar of water and a basketball. Hold the jar up next to the ball and tell your friend of the pressure you have to use to hold it up; then hold it next to the ball but on the bottom and that it would take more force to hold it there. Remind them that “water seeks its own level.” Then ask them, “How can water stay on a ball?” Follow it up with, “How can water stay on a ball (earth) that is going half a million miles an hour?”
There are many more experiments one can do that is free and that the audience do not need a degree in science to understand it.
